PurrPad is made by one person in Italy, funded by people paying $4.99 for it, and by nothing else.
I am Francesco Pavanetto. I work in product and growth, not engineering, and I built PurrPad in the evenings because I wanted to know whether a trackpad could convincingly pretend to be a cat. It turned out the interesting part was not the building but the measuring, which is written up here.
I am not a company. There is no team, no investors, and no support desk: when you email PurrPad, I am the person who answers, usually within a day and occasionally within a minute if I am at my desk.

One price, $4.99, once. No subscription, no adverts, no analytics in the app, no data collected or sold, and no venture funding that would one day need the app to become something else. Payments are handled by Paddle, who act as merchant of record and appear on your statement. The website counts page views, which is described here.
The free version is not a trial. It has one cat and every behaviour, and it stays that way forever whether or not you ever pay me anything.
The app is signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarised by Apple, so macOS opens it without warnings. It cannot be sold on the Mac App Store, because driving the haptic engine requires a framework Apple does not expose publicly, which is why it is distributed from this site.
It makes no network connections except an optional check for a newer version, which has an off switch in the app. Recordings from Record Your Cat are analysed on your Mac and deleted, and never uploaded.
Email hello@purrpad.app. Refunds are 30 days, no questions asked, which is more generous than the 14 days EU law requires, because arguing with someone over five dollars is a bad way to spend an afternoon.
